Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to promote the upcoming bout.
Ex two time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.
Fighter's Mentality
"I plan to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to genuinely try to hurt him. That's my intention."
Civil Interaction
Despite those words, a composed Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - usually known for his showmanship - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian rejected a fight offer.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] outshines Fury - he showed up," Joshua stated.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of declaring he will punish Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he said.
Jake Paul's Background
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's biggest financial successes, consistently making massive paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.
"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.
Size Disparity
As Joshua and Paul engaged in the usual stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it emphasized just how surprising this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really going ahead.
